Kilo pulls tide predictions from NOAA’s CO-OPS (Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services) API in real time. Predictions are based on harmonic constituents derived from verified water level observations. They account for astronomical forces but not meteorological effects — storm surge, wind setup, and barometric pressure can push actual water levels 1–3 ft above or below predicted tides, especially in exposed AK waters.
